The funeral service for retired Henry Ford Museum grounds crew equipment operator Walter Palka of Puryear will be at noon Saturday at Holy Cross Catholic Church.
The Rev. Ed Fisher will officiate. Entombment will follow in Murray Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
Family members will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation is planned from 4-8 p.m. Friday with a rosary at 7 p.m., and 10 a.m.-11:45 a.m. Saturday at Ridgeway Funeral Home.
Palka, 78, died Monday, Jan. 3, 2011, at his residence.
His wife, Gertrude Carroll Palka, survives. They were married on June 6, 1960.
Born May 21, 1931, in Melvindale, Mich., he was a son of the late Andrew and Nellie Palka.
Palka retired from the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Mich. He was a U.S. Army Korean War veteran.
He also leaves three sons: Walter A. (Debbie) Palka of Westland, Mich., Paul A. Palka of Puryear and Stephen C. Palka of Belleville, Mich.; one brother: Joe (Delores) Palka of Redford, Mich.; and three grandchildren: Megan Palka Panich of Livonia, Mich., and Melissa and Daniel Palka, both of Westland.
He also was preceded in death by three sisters: Betty, Ann and Nellie Palka; and five brothers: Chester, Andrew, Frank, Johnny and Teddy Palka.
