Vernon (Boy) Scott
The funeral for Vernon (Boy) Scott will be Wednesday at 10 am. in the chapel of J.H. Churchill Funeral Home. Bro. Jerry Scott will officiate. Pallbearers will be Jason, Jeff and Larry Hubbard, Larry Colee, Lewis Garland, and Stan Scott. Burial will follow in the Murray Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and Masonic services will be Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Scott, 87, East Y Drive, Murray, died Friday, Dec. 18, 2009, at 2:40 p.m. at his home.
An Army veteran of World War II, he retired from Carghill Corp (American Maize) in Hammond, Ind., Sept. 1,1984. He was a member of Hardin Berkley Masonic Lodge #567 and First Baptist Church, Hammond, Ind., and attended Eastwood Baptist Church, Murray.
Born Aug. 22, 1922 in Trigg County, he was the son of the late Alvin Scott and Tempie Dixon Scott. Also preceding him in death were one sister, Ava Nell Ahart, and four brothers, Wilson, Willie, Earl and Tom Scott.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Loren Scott, to whom he was married July 1, 1949 in Hopkinsville; one daughter, Sharon Marie Colee and husband Larry, DeMotte, Ind.; one son, Bro. Jerry Scott and wife, Debbie, Quilan, Texas; three sisters, Virginia Chandler and Dixie Peeler, Murray, and Nella Cothran, Brook, Ind.; three grandsons, Jason Harrison Hubbard and wife, Erice, Eddyville, Jeffrey Vernon Hubbard and wife, Sarah, DeMotte, and Luke Justin Scott; two great-grandsons, Michael Harrison Hubbard and Vincent Thoren Hubbard.
