R.J. McDougal

Mr. R. J. McDougal, age 81, of Murray, Kentucky, died on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at the Spring Creek Health Care in Murray.

Mr. McDougal was born in Dover, Tennessee on March 29, 1936 to the late Rayburn and Otie Compton McDougal. Mr. McDougal retired as a Press Foreman from the Murray Ledger & Times after 51 years of service. He was a member of the Westside Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by three sisters, Maxine Lawrence, Daphine Bennett and Etna Sue Todd.
Mr. McDougal is survived by his wife, Shirley Jane Glover McDougal of Murray, Kentucky, to whom he married on November 28, 1955 in Corinth, Mississippi; two daughters, Renee Underwood of Nashville, Tennessee and Shannon Colson and husband Silburn of Hazel, Kentucky; two sisters, Brenda Johnson of Shallotte, North Carolina and Linda Fennell of Almo, Kentucky; one brother, Cordie McDougal and wife Jean of Puryear, Tennessee; one grandchild, Miranda Stephenson and husband Joshua of Bradford, Tennessee; as well as two great-grandchildren, Sarah Stephenson and Noah Stephenson.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 16, 2017 in the chapel of the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home. Bro. Jimmy Stom will officiate with burial to follow in the Murray Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, July 15, 2017 from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m.
