Mary Lou Outland Swann, 99 of Murray, Ky., died Friday, December 23, 2011 at the Spring Creek Health Care in Murray.
She was born August 5, 1912 in Calloway Co., Ky. to the late Jabe Waldo and Meda Ona Ward Outland. She was a 1930 graduate of Murray High School, and a 1936 graduate of Murray State University with a B.S., Swann was a retired school teacher from the Murray City School district having taught fifth grade. She was also a member of the First Baptist Church, the Pairs & Spares Sunday School class and taught for 62 years in the primary department of First Baptist Church.
Swann is survived by one daughter, Dorothy Alice Jones and husband, Jackie, of Murray; one son Fred Swann and wife, Christie, of Murray; two grandchildren and one great grandchild. Also several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Roy Hoffman Swann, two brothers, Everett Ward, and John Edward Outland.
Funeral services will be held at 11a.m. on Wednesday, December 28, at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home. Rev. Kerry Lambert will officiate. Burial will follow in the Murray Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. today, Tuesday, December 27 at the funeral home.
