Mrs. Marbeth York Mathis, age 85, of Murray, Kentucky died on Friday, March 04, 2016 at Baptist Health Hospital in Paducah, Kentucky.
Mrs. Mathis was born in Flint, Michigan on June 15, 1930 to the late Louie York and Euna (Galloway) York. Mrs. Mathis was a homemaker and a member of the Westside Baptist Church. Prior to becoming a member at Westside Baptist Church Mrs. Mathis was a member and Sunday School teacher at First Baptist Church where she taught the 1st and 2nd grade children for over 22 years.
In addition to her parents Mrs. Mathis was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Mr. Edward Ray Mathis, who died on January 24, 2005; and by one sister, Peggy Baker.
Mrs. Mathis is survived by two daughters, Nancy Slinker and husband Larry of Murray, Kentucky and Patsy Bethel and husband Terry of St. Louis, Missouri; one son, David E. Mathis and wife Kristi of Hardin, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Beth Ann Ladwig and husband Chris of Wichita, Kansas, Brian Bethel of St. Louis, Missouri, Capt. Jeffrey Slinker and wife Caroline of Clarksville, Tennessee, Erica Zipperer and husband Adam of Fort Collins, Colorado and Jennifer Matteo and husband Josh of St. Louis, Missouri; as well as six great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home with Rev. Glynn Orr and Rev. Matt Ellis officiating. Burial will follow in the Murray Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
