Mr. Joseph A. Blackford, age 86, of Murray, Kentucky died on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at the Murray-Calloway County Hospital.
Mr. Blackford was born on November 25, 1929 in Auburn, Kentucky to the late Ed Blackford and Rosa Rager Blackford. He was a Supervisor at Ryan Milk Company, a self-employed carpenter and a member of the Poplar Spring Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by one daughter, Sherry Lynn Harmon, one sister, Louise Richardson, one brother, Ernest Blackford and one granddaughter, Emily Blackford.
He is survived by his wife, Monette B. Blackford, three daughters, Rebecca Wright and husband Dan of Murray, Kentucky, Lisa Cox and husband Billy, of Murray, Kentucky, Robyn Looper and husband Chad of Mayfield, Kentucky, one son, Wayne Blackford and wife Susan of Murray, Kentucky, and one brother, Eugene Blackford and wife Pat of Russelville, Kentucky. Also surviving are twelve grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home with Reverend Rob Ison officiating. Entombment will follow in the Murray Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held on Monday, May 9, 2016 from 5-8 p.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home.
