Brent Evans, 87, of Murray, died Sunday, March 13, 2011, at 9:38 a.m. at Spring Creek Health Care.
A member of Eastwood Baptist Church, he retired from Murray Auto Parts. He also served in the U.S. Army in World War II and was in combat in the European Theater and was awarded the bronze star.
In addition to his parents, William Herschel Evans and Annie Eula (Compton) Evans, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ilene (Tinsley) Evans, whom he married Aug. 28, 1964 and who died in 1985; and one sister, Lorraine Parker.
He is survived by one sister, Louise Carroll of Murray; and one brother, Ralph Evans, of Almo; and several nieces and nephews, Joe Thornton and wife, Marilyn, Ramona Mileham and husband, Bob, Elmo Thornton, Ronnie Carroll and wife, Glenda, Gary Evans and wife, Susan, Marita Burkeen and husband, Wayne, Connie Wilson and husband, Larry, Suzann Sewell and husband, Jim, and Suzette Tidrick and husband, Glen; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Murray Memorial Gardens with military honors with the Rev. Andy Harrell officiating.
Visitation will be tonight, Monday, from 5-8 p.m. at Blalock-Coleman & York Funeral Home.
