Joe B. Outland, 88, of Murray, died Sunday, July 3, 2011, at the Murray-Calloway County Hospital.
Born Sept. 22, 1922 in Murray, to the late Joe Carlos Outland and Birdie Pearl (Outland) Outland, he was a retired mechanic for Carroll Volkswagon in Murray. He was also a World War II U.S. Army Air Corp. veteran and was of Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Florence "Cotton" Gipson Outland; two sisters, Lois Nell Rogers and Sarah Alice McDaniel; and one brother, David Holt Outland.
He is survived by one daughter, Marsha Jo Parrish and husband, Danny of Murray; one son, Prentice Wade Outland and wife, Deborah of Lexington; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held Friday, July 8, 2011, at 10 a.m. at the Murray Memorial Gardens with entombment to follow.
Visitation will be Thursday, July 7, from 4-9 p.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home.
