Hilda Lassiter

March 22, 1925 — December 28, 2010

Mrs. Marie Lassiter, 85, of Murray, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010, at 4:45 a.m. at her residence.

She was the owner operator of the Mademoiselle Shop in Murray for 30 years. She was a member of the Murray First United Methodist Church where she participated in the Wesleyan Circle and the Young Adult Sunday School Classes. She was also a Member of the Murray Woman's Club and a Charter Member of the Murray County Club. She also actively participated in the Cub Scouts and Girls Scouts, also in her Bridge Club till her health failed.

She was born in Calloway County, March 22, 1925, to the late H. B. "Bunch" and Mary Lucille West Jones. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, James "Jiggs" Lassiter; and one son, Timothy Lee Lassiter.

She is survived by one daughter, Beverly Gilpatrick of Murray; one son, James Michael Lassiter of Murray; one sister, Betty Lawrence and husband, Joe of Murray; one brother, Pat Jones and wife, Doris of Sikeston, Mo.; four grandchildren, Steven Lassiter, Julie Meusel, James Steven Backer and Patricia Marie Lassiter; and two great-grandchildren, Addison Backer and Lucy Noelle Meusel.

Services will be held 1 p.m., Friday, Dec. 31, 2010, in the chapel of the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home. The Rev. Richard Smith and John Dale will officiate with burial to follow in the Murray Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 30, 2010.
