Eva Hale, 82, of Murray, Ky., died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, at Spring Creek Health Care.
Mrs. Hale was a member of First Baptist Church in Murray for 55 years, 37 of those years she taught teenage girls in Sunday School; she was a member of the Phebian Sunday School Class and the B. Walker Missionary Circle; she was well known for her volunteer work; she was a charter member and officer in the Theta Woman's Club and former member and officer in the Woodmen of the World No. 728. For 20 years, she was a deputy in the Property Valuation Office in Calloway County.
She was born in Calloway County May 22, 1930, to the late Clovis and Lola Scott Grogan. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by two brothers, Earl Grogan, who died serving his county in World War II in France, and Jewell Grogan.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Charles Hale, of Murray, they were married in Marshall County Aug. 6, 1949; one daughter, Angela Herndon and husband, Tim, of Nashville, Tenn.; one son, Dr. Steve Hale and wife, Debbie, of Woodstock Ga.; four grandchildren, Melody Schmidt, Joshua Hale, both of Woodstock Ga., and Caleb Herndon and Evie Herndon, both of Nashville, Tenn.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, in the chapel of the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home. The Rev. Keith Inman, the Rev. Boyd Smith and Dr. Steve Hale will officiate with burial to follow in the Murray Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 4 - 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at the funeral home
