Dr. Frank W. Adelman, 94 of Hazel, KY passed away Sunday, September 3, 2017 at the Western Kentucky Veterans Center in Hanson, KY.
Dr. Adelman was born on August 25, 1923 in Wilkes Barre, PA to the late Walter Abraham Adelman and Helen Barnhart Adelman. Frank served overseas in the United States Navy in World War II and the Korean War. A journeyman plumber, he became certified as a math teacher after his military service. Combining his trade skills and teaching experience, he instructed in an apprenticeship program in Arkansas. He continued in vocational education and completed the Doctorate in Vocational Education from the University of Arkansas. Dr. Adelman served as a teacher educator in Kansas, Pennsylvania and Kentucky. He came to Murray State University in 1978 as a coordinator of the VTE program. He was a charter member of the MOI/NTI instructional staff and was instrumental in developing the program. Dr. Adelman retired in 1994. In his 15 years at Murray State University he traveled the equivalent of 11 times around the world in support of vocational teachers and administrators in Kentucky. He was of the Methodist faith.
Surviving him is his wife, Dr. Mary Belle Adelman of Hazel; a son, Greg Adelman, wife Anita; a daughter, Jo Grippe of Russell Springs, KY; a sister, Ruth Petees, husband Walter, of Delaware and two grandchildren, Brian and Karen Grippe.
Service times are pending at Imes Funeral Home & Crematory, downtown Murray.
