Donald Jones of Almo, Kentucky went to be with Jesus on Thursday, September 21, 2017, with his family at home. Donald was born January 8, 1937, in Golden Pond, Kentucky. His parents were Lanis Jones, and Leenora and Hale Crump.
Donald was a devout Christian, trusting in the Lord to guide him through life and death. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and trustee and in any way that he could help others. He was an artist with woodworking and could literally do anything mechanically. He was devoted to his family and spent his life caring for them and cherished his wife Judy. Donald was an avid UK Wildcat fan, even wearing his wildcat blue coat and bow tie to Church during tournament time.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Judy; son Stephen and his wife Brenda, grandson Lucas Jones, granddaughter Miranda Jones, great grandson Kaiser Jones, sisters Pauline Crump and Retta Balentine, sister-in-law Betsy Flynn, brothers-in-law, Doug and Del Cannon, nieces Paula Flood, Deborah Buchanan, nephews Raybon Crump, Jr., Dan Hudson, Doug Cannon, Mark Cannon, David Cannon, John Cannon, and B.J. Cannon.
He was preceded in death by his precious daughter Lori Lee Jones, and his parents.
A celebration of life service will be held at the Northside Baptist Church, 3:00 p.m., Saturday, September 23, 2017. Pastor Brett Miles and Bro. Larry Salmon will officiate. Burial will follow in the Murray Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 1-3 p.m., Saturday, September 23, 2017 at the Northside Baptist Church.
The family requests no flowers and that memorial contributions be made to the Northside Baptist Church building fund, 1477 Boggess Road, Almo, KY. 42020.
Pallbearers will be Stephen Jones, Lucas Jones, Miranda Jones, Paula Flood, James Flood, Raybon Crump, Jr., and Dan Hudson. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of Northside Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Murray Memorial Gardens.
