Cora Lane

Cora B. Lane Cora B. Lane, 99, loving mother and grandmother, died at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, 2009, at Rosewood Care Center in Alton. Born May 27, 1909, she was the second daughter of Eaphrain and Lillie (Prescott) McWaters of Lyon County, Ky. She married John Taylor Lane on Dec. 12, 1929, in Eddyville, Ky. He died Nov. 23, 1968. She was a housewife and member of Pleasant Grove Methodist Church in Murray, Ky. Surviving are a granddaughter and her husband, Dana and Paul Witt of Fosterburg; four great-grandchildren and a spouse, Brittany and Jeremy Stalcup of Norfolk, Va., Taylor Lane and Jonathan and Joel Witt; many wonderful nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law, Mary McWaters of Alton; and lots of wonderful friends. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son and his wife, Van Taylor and Helen Johnson Lane; an infant grandson; four sisters, two brothers and a sister-in-law. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 23, at Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights, where services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 24. The Rev. Dan Smith will officiate. Burial will be at Murray Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First General Baptist Church of Rosewood Heights.
