A memorial service for Charles Butterworth was today (Thursday) at 11:30 a.m. in the chapel of Alabama Heritage Funeral Home, Montgomery, Ala., with Minister Mike Nix officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Murray, Ky. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Christian Home and Bible School, P.O. Box 1017, Mt. Dora, FL 32756-9985 or Hospice of Montgomery, 1111 Holloway Park, Montgomery, AL 36117.
Mr. Butterworth, 79, Montgomery, died Monday, Oct. 15, 2007. He was the only child of the late Cloys and Palmer Butterworth of Lynn Grove, Ky. A graduate of the University of Kentucky, he managed the fertilizer and chemical divisions for Chase & Co., Sanford, Fla., and was an influential member of the Agribusiness industry in Florida. After retiring he worked for Harmon Fruit Co. and Douglas Fertilizer in consulting roles. He was a gardener, golfer and fan of the University of Kentucky. He resided in Orlando and Longwood, Fla., for 44 years before moving to Montgomery, where he was a member of the University Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Linda Conner Butterworth, to whom he was married upon her graduation from high school in 1948.; one son, Christopher Charles Butterworth and wife, Susan, Tallahassee, Fla.; one daughter, Mrs. Tina Skinner and husband, Keith, Decatur, Ala.; seven grandchildren, Annie Sue Butterworth, Christopher Charles Butterworth Jr., Brent Butterworth, Brad Butterworth, Jennifer Skinner Crow and husband, Jarred, Michael Skinner and Jay Skinner; four great-grandchildren.
