Billie Ray Roberts, 78, of Almo, died Monday, Dec. 13, 2010, at the Murray-Calloway County Hospital.
Born August 23, 1932, he was a veteran of the United States Army and was a lifelong member and deacon at Flint Baptist Church. He and his wife owned and managed Motor Parts & Bearings in Murray before their retirement.
Roberts was preceded in death by his parents, Goebel Roberts and Jessie Jones Roberts-Barrow.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ada Sue Ross Roberts; two sons, Mark Roberts and wife, Lu, and Eric Roberts and wife, Dee, all of Murray; a daughter, LaDonne Delgado and husband, Jon of Starkville, Miss.; two brothers, Thomas Roberts and wife, Martha, and Charles Roberts and wife, Ann, both of Murray; a sister, Mydelle Rickman of Murray; four grandchildren, Christopher, Kelsey, Jackson and Elizabeth Roberts; and four step-grandchildren, Maurya, Ian, Jessmyn Delgado and Jessie Roberts.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010, at 1 p.m. at Imes-Miller Funeral Home with the Revs. Jim Simmons, Edward Chapman and Glenn Cope officiating. Burial will follow at the Murray Memorial Gardens.
Serving as pallbearers will be Dee, Christopher, Kelsey, Jessie, Lu and Elizabeth Roberts. Honorary pallbearers will be Lamon Lovett, Purdom Lovett, Michael Palmer, Tommy Carraway, Donnie Overbey, Kenny Overbey, Billy Overbey, Billie Wade Roberts, Bob Barnett, Gerald Stone, Glen Dale Henderson and Charles McCuiston.
