Bethel Richardson, 79, Squire Road, Murray, died Sunday, Nov. 2, 2008, at 8:30 a.m. at his home.
A graduate of Trigg County High School, he attended Murray State University and graduated from Bowling Green College of Commerce. He moved to Murray in 1954 and established the accounting firm of Bethel Richardson, CPA, and retired in 1994. He was a former member of Murray Jaycees and Murray Lions Club. He served as president of the Lions Club and as cabinet secretary of Lions District 43K. He also served as director of Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, served for 12 years as a member of the Murray Independent School Board, and was a member of First Baptist Church, Murray.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Jennings Bethel Richardson Sr. and Mary English Richardson; one brother, Henry Richardson; and two granddaughters, Sina and Mary Hurter.
Survivors include his wife, Sina Wheeler Richardson, to whom he was married Jan. 22, 1950 in Bowling Green; four daughters, Audrey Brown and Brenda Hosford and husband, Keith, all of Murray, Michele Stewart and husband, Roy, Nashville, Tenn., and Beth Hurter and husband, Mark, Toney, Ala.; one sister, Betty Schwall and husband, Jay, New Orleans, La.; nine grandchildren, Mickey Brown, Bryan, Jonathan and Jeremy Hosford, Mark, Melissa and Sarah Hurter, and Ryan and Michael Stewart; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of J.H. Churchill Funeral Home. Dr. Greg Earwood and Dr. Wendell Ray will officiate. Burial will follow in the Murray Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
