Funeral services for Baron E. Palmer, 86, of Kirksey, will be held today, Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2011, at 11 a.m. in chapel of the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home with the Revs. Kendrick Lewis and David Allbritten officiating. Burial will follow in the Murray Memorial Gardens.
Palmer died Saturday, Aug. 6, 2011 at his home
Born Oct. 31, 1924 in Kirksey, to the late Lowell and Dixe Trevathan Palmer, he was a retired row crop, tobacco and jersey dairy farmer. He was also a Navy veteran of World War II serving on the USS Hector repair ship and the USS Gurke battleship destroyer, was a member of the Kirksey United Methodist Church and a graduate of Kirksey High School.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Mohler Palmer on June 3, 1994; and infant sister, Cheryl Palmer.
He is survived by his son, David L. Palmer and wife, Paula; sister, Clarice Norsworthy; uncle, Hugh Palmer and wife, Imogene; three grandchildren, Charles Palmer and wife, Kelly, Michael Palmer and wife, Stacie, and Timothy Palmer and wife, Cassidy, all of Kirksey; 10 great-grandchildren, a sister-in-law, and several nephews and cousins.
